Aloha from San Francisco

So due to our last Sunday flight being canceled due to Hurricane Irene which became Tropical Storm Irene over NYC, my boyfriend and I are not able to get home until Friday because all flights are already booked and nothing is opening up for more than one person. Frustrating. My poor puppy has been in the kennel almost 2 weeks! There will be lots and lots of cuddling once we get home. But,  I did want to quickly share one of my amazing finds this vacation. It is for my boyfriend and I do believe I've found...
the perfect vintage Hawaiian shirt! Observe its perfect print, colors, and broken-in-comfy-ness. <3

Sorry for the delay in posts but I have been all over the place and have tons of pictures to share with you all! Your patience will be rewarded!!!

What do you think of the shirt? I kind of love it.

...that I might fly today...

As of 9am I should be en route to California! San Francisco, to be exact. I'm soooooo excited as I've never been to Cali before! Many many pictures to come!

Mental Vacation

FYI... If you ever see me staring off into space, this is where I am.

Some Avon Favorites

Hey guys! I wanted to make a quick little makeup post. Now, I am an Avon representative but I'm not here to push products at you guys. My belief is, if I'm gonna try a new look (which I like to do pretty often), I don't want to spend a ton of money on them unless I'm positive it works for me. Enter Avon. Most of their products are awesome and at really great prices. I've been super happy with everything I've got through them, and I wanted to share a few favorites...

1. Avon 12-in-1 Eye Palette (on sale for $10!) Click here.

2. Beyond Color- Plumping Lip Color with SPF 15 (in Uptown Pink or Sienna) Click here.

3. Nailwear Pro Nail Enamel (in Bare Necessity, Tropical Punch, or Lagoon) Click here.

4. Be Blushed Cheek Color (in Pink Melon) Click here.

5. Faux Agate Crystal Collection Earrings. Click here.

Gilded, Golden, a Little Gaudy

As my San Francisco trip draws closer, I've been searching a few awesome SF based fashion blogs to see what stylish ladies are wearing on the west coast. My general conclusion for fool-proof yet comfortable fashion is going to be mainly neutral layers and unique/ eye catching jewelry. Mainly necklaces. However, I love color and lots of it so the next best thing was to bling out my nails with some turquoise green polish with gold half moon details using a super cheap polish brand called Color Club (which you can find at any drug store probably).

Too much?

DIY Chain Link Bolo Necklace

I really, really love bolo necklaces. I think they just look so great on women. Especially on Weardrobe's District of Chic

So great! I decided to make a couple myself and see what happens. Instead of using braided leather though, I thought it might be cool to use chain, old broken earrings, agate, and brooch pins to make my bolo necklaces a little more versatile and interesting.

What do you think??
I'll post a DIY soon on how to make these for yourself!

65 Degrees in August

Next Wednesday morning, Boyfriend and I leave for the mystical land known as San Francisco. Oddly enough, the thing I'm most excited about is the mid 60˚F weather that awaits us, which means one thing. Layering! I can't wait to wear tights and sweaters and scarves and hats and boots! Still debating what to take as I will only be armed with a tiny carryon suitcase... but in the meantime take a look at some runway images of Tracy Reese's Fall 2011 collection.
Love. Love it all.

Taste Testing -Etsy Features

As most of you probably know, I adore Etsy. Even more so, I adore their taste test application. Every week I like to take a new taste test and see what pops up. The items are always different and I always wind up wanting basically everything. Below are some of my favorites from this week's taste test.

I know, I have the most random taste ever. But that's a good thing to me because I'm always interested/ influenced in and by several things. Besides, doesn't everyone need an eye-catching vintage clutch, a breath-taking sofa, a pseudo ugly yet oh-so-cute kitty sweater, a couple of kitschy ducklings, a luminous lotus bowl center piece, and a mystical daily carry-all?

I think so!

Rain Rain

Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a nice family visit over the weekend, Saturday we went to the Bronx Zoo (which I've never been to before, pics to come) and then after the fam left for home, boyfriend and I had a cozy rainy Sunday brunch at our favorite cafe. Overall, it was a pretty good weekend with the occasional hiccup life throws at you (especially when you're trying to put up shelving and there are no studs in a wall space of 40 inches. Grrrr.).

Today was a day of low end comfort, my whole outfit probably cost about $120. Not including my Chanel nail polish in Peridot (a whopping $25, but sooo worth it. I might buy an extra bottle).
Rainy Sunday outfit: H&M bootcut jeans, Old Navy cotton tunic, Navajo sweater from Daffy's, Clogs from Old Navy ($5 on sale!!!), Totes umbrella, Isabella Fiore 'evil eye' bag (sample sale find), earrings and ring from Forever 21 most likely (can't remember)

Savage Beauty

The Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met is over, and yet I still feel the weight of the exhibit on my heart. It was completely breathtaking and overwhelming. A marvel. I hope you were able to see the show, but if not here are some images of the exhibit taken by Garance Dore. Enjoy.

What else is there that can be said? Genius.
